Ass whipping and cold water

Why the bizarre title you might ask? Well, unfortunately, that is Slovakia's Easter traditions in a nutshell. Including litres of alcohol.

So basically, every year on the Monday of the Easter holidays (Huffington got it totally wrong...how dare they..) from the early morning hours until noon, the male persons go around every house to whip the shit out of women and drain them in cold water. This is meant to make us stay young, yet grow into beauty. The men are then supposed to be rewarded with Easter eggs or chocolate, or money...but they usually end up getting all that AND get drunk in your household which then you have to deal with.

I mean, I am usually down for any kind of tradition based ritual, including the meat-free Friday of the Easter holidays, or watching Shrek every Christmas, but this..........

and let me tell you, living in a village does not make it any easier. Boys of ALL AGEGROUPS arrive at your house at 9 FUCKING AM and get their waterguns out, or water bottles and chase you around the house to get you soaked and whip you with these wooden sticks. Last year, I had to change clothes 5 times, as well as my bed sheets AND dry my hair. Not to mention, it cost me around 20 euros, because it's tradition and 13 year old boys should get money for whipping girls. Way to go life advice.

This year, I managed to sleep in, but because I live in a neighbourhood of people who have known each other for years, I could not go through the day without having to change my clothes once.
I ended up just driving over haters anyway...

Other than that, the chocolate companies have never been more appreciated, than at this time of the year, because chocolate mini eggs and chocolate cream eggs (the ones where you scoop out the cream from the inside of the egg and then you just stuff the whole thing in your mouth) are just.......................the best thing I can never have because I'm lactose intolerant. But just like humanity, I have sinned and had some...stomach didn't approve.
