First of all, I am the WORST person to go shopping with. I literally don't find it fun and if you have been out shopping with me, you will know, that I only enter shops that have an object placed to sit on (preferably something comfortable). Well okay....I do sit and hold your shit while you finish shopping, but THAT STILL DOESN'T MEAN I FIND THAT FUN.
Enough about me.
I am sure you are all aware, that we live in a consumer culture, where it is important to be following the latest trends in fashion, movies, music, tech gadgets, whatever. The intensity of this was also greatly increased by social networks, but not to worry children, there's only Zuckerberg to blame for that. However, that is still okay, I mean you know you wanna hit your homie from India up, you can do it immediately how is that a bad thing? And I am not gonna go into detail about how social networks fucked up society, because they make you write that for SAT's and IB Geography.
The most bothersome thing about being "current" in everything, is losing opinion and individual taste. If it's new, it's immediately amazing and awesome and you just want it and you just can't leave it hanging there you must buy it. I know, that this probably sounds like a post for a very young female age group, but this happens to everyone and you know it does.
People have also lost their creativity drive. For example, when was the last time you saw someone sew their own clothes? WHY isn't that encouraged?
There is nothing more fulfilling in life, than creating something by yourself (Reference to previous P.H.Deep post) and YES believe it or not, it is much more fulfilling, than buying yourself a new iPhone, which let's face it will break anyway and because Apple is based on one-piece technology rather than the take apart-able one, your wallet will suffer and your creativity cells will die. No offense Steve.
I'm not saying, that you shouldn't have smart phones or tablets or gold chainz. I am just saying, that above all the things that are available for money, it should be okay to sometimes DIY.
Being the most current with materials shouldn't be as important as it is. Having the latest iPhone will not get you more long-term happiness in life. It will not get you more friends at school; CHEWING GUM WILL!!
I want to encourage yout, to create and explore, rather than observe and buy.
*In other news*
Also, I spent the day freaking out about a dentist appointment, because I've been having to go to the brace dentist my whole teenage life and while people can stick metal shit on my teeth for 2 hours, I can't handle it, when somebody drills into my fucking tooth. So basically, the whole day I've been super anxious and then turns out, my teeth are fine and now I'm laying in bed super exhausted after stressing all day for nothing. Yep, that is life with me. Shout out to the great dentist of mine who is family, but distant so it's hard to label.
Much love!
